Check-in is from 3pm (Pacific Time). Please let us know if you believe you may arrive after 7pm so that we can make any necessary arrangements.

Checkout time is 11.00am.

We require 48 hours notice for any nights that you do not intend to stay. Cancellations for any nights made after 3pm (PST) within 48 hours of your stay will be charged at full rate.

We strongly advise that it is essential to have TRAVEL INSURANCE to protect you from changes to your plans which are beyond your own control such as airline delays or cancellations.

Please note that we cannot guarantee on-site parking for all rooms. There will always be a place close to the hotel, but downtown Nelson is historically-challenged when it comes to cars and is an issue for all of the hotels. We have four private on-site spaces for our eight rooms but you will always be able to find somewhere nearby.

  • The bottom line: you can save money by booking direct.
  • You will NEVER get a better rate by using another online travel booking website, but you will add in an extra complication to your booking as you are now paying for a travel agent (via commission charged to the hotel).
  • Our prices will ALWAYS match or beat any online travel booking site. If you wish to test us on that, call or add a comment when making an online booking and we will BEAT any third party room rate, GUARANTEED. That must be true as we wrote it in capital letters.
  • So please reserve your room with us – it helps us keep room costs lower – by using the online booking option on this site (see the ‘Book Now’ buttons at the top/bottom of the page), or contact us toll-free on 1-800-596-2337 (1-250-352-3226 if you are outside North America).
  • Please note that nothing is charged to your card until your check-in date, unlike some of the travel booking sites.
  • Payment options – Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac/Debit, and Canadian dollars.
  • Pets – We regret that we don’t have the facilities to accept pets at the hotel but we highly recommend Gracie’s Kennels for excellent overnight or day-care for your dog.
  • Smoking – All of our rooms are, and always have been, smoke-free. However, smoking is possible in outside areas – the front terrace and the rear sun-deck.

This hotel has a lot of internal and external stairs and is not well-suited to those with restrictive mobility issues.

For guests who are comfortable with just a few steps, access is not difficult from the rear once another member of your party has checked in at reception. Please ensure that you book a room on the SECOND floor: Fir, Maple, Cedar or Aspen for the least stairs (a total of nine steps).

COVID19: Your safety is our main concern

Guest protection

The hotel is well-designed to handle a new way of taking care of our guests in a safe, responsible manner:

  • we offer non-contact, remote check-in and check-out if required. Guests do not need to visit the front desk at any point.
  • the hotel has no internal public gathering spaces, bars, lobbies or communal spaces.
  • as we are small, we have a tight-knit team of staff. Everyone helped develop the new hygiene rules together.
  • 50% of our units have their own private entrances for guests’ independent entrance and exit, and for the safe delivery of take-out food if required.
  • if you choose to visit the front desk, there is a limit of one family/guest grouping at a time in Reception.
Room hygiene

Cloudside Hotel is following the British Columbia Hotel Association and WorkSafeBC operation guidelines regarding sanitation and cleanliness of guest rooms and spaces. This includes:

  • removing all used and unused linens and towels after each stay for high temperature laundering.
  • disinfecting all room ‘touch points’ (light switches, remote controls, handles, buttons and so on) with a certified hospital grade cleaning product.
  • disinfecting/steam cleaning all in-room items which have potentially been touched during a stay such as soft furnishings, coffee-makers, brochures and coat-hangers. We cannot remove all of these items from rooms without negatively impacting your stay with us.
  • likewise with all touch points in common areas such as landings and reception, including banisters and external doors.
  • staff will be vigilant to remain a safe distance from our guests.
  • following Canadian hotel industry guidelines, we will not enter your room during your stay unless you specifically request us to do so.
  • therefore daily housekeeping is not conducted automatically but we are always happy and on hand to clean if you wish, and refresh or replace any items from your room.
