We require 48 hours notice for any nights that you do not intend to stay. Cancellations for any nights made after 3pm (PST) within 48 hours of your stay will be charged at full rate.

We strongly advise that it is essential to have TRAVEL INSURANCE to protect you from changes to your plans which are beyond your own control such as airline delays or cancellations.

Please note that we cannot guarantee on-site parking for all rooms. There will always be a place close to the hotel, but downtown Nelson is historically-challenged when it comes to cars and is an issue for all of the hotels. We have four private on-site spaces for our eight rooms but you will always be able to find somewhere nearby.

  • The bottom line: you can save money by booking direct.
  • You will NEVER get a better rate by using another online travel booking website, but you will add in an extra complication to your booking as you are now paying for a travel agent (via commission charged to the hotel).
  • Our prices will ALWAYS match or beat any online travel booking site. If you wish to test us on that, call or add a comment when making an online booking and we will BEAT any third party room rate, GUARANTEED. That must be true as we wrote it in capital letters.

  • Please note that nothing is charged to your card until your check-in date, unlike some of the travel booking sites.
  • Payment options – Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac/Debit, and Canadian dollars.
  • Pets – We regret that we don’t have the facilities to accept pets at the hotel but we highly recommend Gracie’s Kennels for excellent overnight or day-care for your dog.
  • Smoking – All of our rooms are, and always have been, smoke-free. However, smoking is possible in outside areas – the front terrace and the rear sun-deck.

Accessibility

Please note that our historic 3-storey building does not have an elevator, and all guest room access requires the use of stairs. We encourage guests with mobility concerns to contact us directly before booking so we can help determine the most suitable accommodation option.

Property Access

  • Front Entrance: access to the First Level of the hotel from Victoria Street requires 27 exterior stairs through the front garden
  • Rear Entrance / Parking: access from the rear parking area and deck requires 9 stairs to reach the back entrance of the Second Level

Interior Stair Access

  • From the First Level to the Second Level: 18 interior stairs
  • From the Second Level to the Third Level: 16 interior stairs

Cherry Tree Apartment

The Cherry Tree Apartment is located at the rear of the property and is accessed directly from the back alley and parking area. Entry requires only 2 exterior steps, and there are 14 interior stairs as this is a split level apartment.
